Tennessee Titans rule out 3 reliable contributors vs Jaguars, including kicker Nick Folk

Tennessee Titans coach Brian Callahan has ruled three contributors out for the team's Week 17 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, most notably kicker Nick Folk.

Folk has been on the injury report for three weeks and missed the Titans' Week 16 game at Indianapolis with an abdominal injury.

With Folk out, the Titans will elevate Matthew Wright from the practice squad to handle kicking responsibilities. The Titans signed Wright on Thursday and will be the third team for which he's kicked this season. Wright was 11-for-12 on field goals and 5-for-5 on extra points in three games with Kansas City and San Francisco earlier in the year.

For his career, Wright has also kicked for Pittsburgh, Jacksonville and Carolina. He is 21-for-25 on kicks longer than 40 yards in his career, including 4-for-5 this season.

Callahan also ruled guard Dillon Radunz and linebacker Otis Reese IV out for Sunday. Without Radunz, the Titans will bump center Daniel Brunskill out to guard and play Corey Levin at center. Linebacker Luke Gifford is scheduled to return from the concussion protocol and will start in the place left by Reese alongside rookies Cedric Gray and James Williams. Gifford will handle play-calling responsibilities when he's on the field, per Callahan.

Safety Amani Hooker is expected to be listed as questionable after missing much of this week with a shoulder injury sustained in Week 16. If Hooker is unable to go, the only safeties on the Titans' active roster will be Daryl Worley and Mike Brown. Callahan said the Titans will need to call up Gervarrius Owens from the practice squad if Hooker isn't available to be the team's emergency safety.

Offensive tackle shuffle?

Callahan said second-year tackle Jaelyn Duncan, who's been freshly elevated from injured reserve, will play in Sunday's game. He didn't indicate whether Duncan will start over regular starter Nicholas Petit-Frere, saying the team will evaluate its options through Saturday. But he said he is intrigued to see how Duncan looks.

Duncan has made one start this season, in Week 7 against Buffalo, but he was injured within the game's first couple of plays and hasn't been back on the field since. Between Duncan, Petit-Frere, John Ojukwu, Leroy Watson IV and Isaiah Prince, the Titans have already tried five players at right tackle this season.

Brian Callahan on blocking out the noise

Players often preach about the importance of "blocking out the noise" during the season, the practice of staying away from what's being said about the team in the media or from fans. Callahan spoke a little bit Friday about how things are a little different for coaches and how he's not always able to truly block out conversations about his team.

"Those have been the things that I've tried to find how do I best deal with that," Callahan said. "How do I best know what the pulse is without seeing too much of it? I've definitely deleted all my socials. I don't go on Twitter. I don't do any of that anymore. I just can't. It takes away too much when the focus is on the things it should be focused on. I try to have an idea of what's out there, what the perception is and what questions are headed my way. But as of late, for sure, I've taken a very hands-off approach to all of that. I don't pay attention to much of it anymore and I can see why people don't.

"It is something you have to learn how to deal with. You have to learn how to deal with what the outside noise is and what matters and what doesn't and you land on a point eventually like I have where none of it matters to me at this point. You try to focus on the things you can control and focus on. There's a learning curve to that too."

The Titans (3-12) visit the Jaguars (3-12) at EverBank Stadium on Sunday (noon, CBS).
