The Lions have shown a decent amount of attention to a Division II safety from Grand Valley State

The 2025 NFL Draft is next week, and the Detroit Lions have been doing their due diligence on players with pre-draft meetings at all-star games, the NFL Combine, pro days, local pro day, and top-30s.

The Lions have shown a decent amount of attention to a Division II safety from Grand Valley State

While it's impossible to track every single player because some agents do everything they can to prevent getting pre-draft visit news out, and some players just don't want people to know, we have been able to see a small group of players who have met with the Lions more than once.

That group is Michigan edge Josaiah Stewart, Ole Miss linebacker Pooh Paul, Penn State linebacker Kobe King, Virginia safety Jonas Sanker, and Grand Valley State safety Ian Kennelly

A really interesting group of players. You see four Division 1 guys who are going to get drafted on day two or likely high on day three, and then a Division II guy from a somewhat local college, a few hours away from Detroit.

Kennelly first met with the Lions at the Grand Valley State pro day in early March. Then a month later, he was invited to the Lions' local pro day last week on April 8.

Kennelly is coming off a strong season where he was first-team All-Gliac. He finished the year with 64 tackles, three pass breakups, three interceptions, a forced fumble, and a blocked punt.

Kennelly is not currently projected to be drafted, but could be an undrafted free agent for the Lions. As we know, this is a team that really loves the undrafted guys and frequently adds a handful of them to their 53-man roster every year and then more to their 16-man practice squad.

The Lions are not the only team to have interest in him. The Bears, Falcons, Cowboys, and Saints are all interested and have had meetings with him too.
