The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon announces its season 3 premiere date with new footage of the show that teases why Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) can't return home. Daryl Dixon season 3 will see the spinoff's core duo cross through the Chunnel to get to England, attempting to return home. However, the upcoming six-episode season lands them in Spain on their way back to America, leading to another adventure in Europe featuring new faces and dangers. Not much is known about the story that will unfold beyond its core location.
The end of the trailer sees Daryl and Carol looking at something offscreen on fire, while Daryl talks about how someone he knew told him to "bet on hope." This echoes something Isabelle (Clémence Poésy) told him when she was still alive. The trailer ends confirming a release date of Sunday, September 7 on AMC and AMC+.
In addition, AMC has provided first-look images for Daryl Dixon season 3. This includes closer looks at characters portrayed by Eduardo Noriega, Óscar Jaenada, and Alexandra Masangkay, all of whom will be joining the cast as series regulars.
Since Daryl Dixon season 2 ended with Daryl and Carol determined to get back home, their massive detour in Spain is going to be a huge detriment to their return journey. This is especially the case because of how dangerous the country appears to be, with a city that was originally celebratory seemingly getting overrun by zombies rather quickly. New dangers are also in store for the pair, with the mysterious zombie caravan indicating new ways survivors use the dead are going to be explored.
Despite the inevitable hardship they'll face, it seems they're going to find some allies along the way too. Masangkay's character might be someone they can trust, given her openness to speaking with them. Carol also seems to be getting close to Noriega's character, though their current connection is unclear. Since these new characters in Daryl Dixon will be central to how the series develops moving forward, their relationships to the main duo will be crucial to the story that unfolds.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3's September release aligns with the release windows of the last two seasons, confirming the show will be coming back around the same time every year. Given just how dangerous it appears Spain is going to be, Daryl and Carol might find themselves in their most harrowing situation yet. However, given their propensity for survival, it seems like these challenges won't permanently keep them from living.
