'The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon' Star, 60, Says Season 3's Setting Might Be Her "Favorite"

The folks behind The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon are having the time of their lives. What started as an expedition abroad has now turned into a European-trotting adventure. After two successful seasons set in France, Norman Reedus’ titular character and his bestie and forever companion, Carol (Melissa McBride) will be exploring Spain during the next set of episodes. A recently released featurette is inviting audiences to step behind the curtain and join the cast and crew on their journey across Spain.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 is now filming in Spain

Calling the location change “a good idea,” Reedus says he believes that leaving America behind was a great choice for the uber-successful The Walking Dead spin-off. “I think it’s really interesting to go to different parts of the world and see how it’s affected by everything that’s going down.” Likewise, showrunner and executive producer, David Zabel, was thrilled that the series allowed the team to pick up cameras and roll somewhere completely different, something that gave them the opportunity to make the story work in “a different environment.”

Covering all the territory that the team has crossed so far, executive producer Steven Squillante reveals that the third season will include footage from a slew of different towns and cities, including Belchite, Seville, Sepúlveda, Galicia, Madrid, Barcelona, and more. When it comes to how she wants to take in her brand-new surroundings, McBride says,

“Just driving in is beautiful. You can take the train, but I like to drive. Just be on the road for four or five hours and just take in the landscape. Then you get there and think, ‘Oh, my gosh. This is incredible. I think this might be my favorite.’ Then we get to another location, ‘Oh my gosh. This is incredible. I think this might be my favorite.’ It’s been that way every location we’ve been to.”
