The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is a fan-favorite spinoff of the original series released by AMC in 2010. AMC will premiere the third season of Daryl Dixon this fall, and the network recently released the first four minutes of the upcoming season on AMC+.
When it was revealed that Daryl's continued story would take place in France, the fandom thought it an absurd idea. How would he even travel that far in an apocalypse? And why would he leave everyone he knows and loves? This was all explained in the first season of the series.
In the final scene of The Walking Dead's series finale episode, Daryl says goodbye to Carol, Judith, and Ezekiel as he embarks on a journey to discover more about Rick and Michonne. He also planned to find other survivors who could join the Commonwealth, which is now headed up by Ezekiel and his right-hand man, Mercer.
During his journey, Daryl encountered some unsavory people who threw him on a ship bound for France. Although he did make new friends in the foreign land, his main goal was to return to the United States to his family and friends. In season 2, Carol discovers Daryl's whereabouts and joins him overseas.
The third season of the fifth spinoff in The Walking Dead universe will pick up after events in the season 2 finale, which saw Daryl and Carol journeying through the Chunnel to England. They will begin their new chapter in London before they somehow arrive in Spain, where the majority of the season is set.
AMC recently released the first four minutes of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 exclusively on AMC+. If you are a subscriber you go there to see it, if not, it will likely be released to the public soon.
The opening minutes reveal that the series will continue to impress viewers with its incredible cinematography. Right off, we are given a birds-eye view of beautiful scenery at Beachy Head, located on the coast of East Sussex, marked by the Beachy Head lighthouse situated in the English Channel below the cliffs. Next, the duo arrived in London, indicated by the presence of several notable landmarks. The scene shows Daryl and Carol taking in their surroundings, noting the absence of people and walkers, which they find strange. They also talk about their mutual desire to return home.
They come to what was once known as the Westminster Checkpoint, which has now been abandoned. Decaying bodies lay everywhere, and they see signs that read "Observe Curfew. In at night or shot on sight." Daryl asks if she is ready and leads the way inside the walled checkpoint.
Little is known about what the pair will encounter this season, but one highlight is that Stephen Merchant's character will appear in the first episode. He is described by series executive producerSteve Squillante as an interesting individual and can be seen in several teasers for the season.
