The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live debuted on AMC earlier this year, and now the series can be picked up on physical media.
Upon debuting on AMC and AMC+ in February, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live was met with instant success. It set the biggest premiere night audience for a new AMC series in six years and became the No. 1 trending topic on X on the night of its debut broadcast. What's more is that the series set all-time records for viewership and customer acquisition on AMC+ and became the No. 1 cable drama premiere of the 2023/24 TV season in the key demographics.
For the fans looking to add the physical copy of the series to their Walking Dead collections, the series is now available on Blu-ray Steelbook and DVD. The Steelbook version also comes with a collectible CRM embroidered patch to further sweeten the deal. The cover art for the release can be seen below.
The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, per the official logline, is the "love story between Rick and Michonne. Changed by a world that is constantly changing, will they find themselves in a war against the living or will they discover that they too are The Walking Dead?"
Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira lead the cast of the spinoff in their respective franchise roles as Rick Grimes and Michonne. Lincoln had been a part of The Walking Dead since its very first episode before departing as a series regular in Season 9. Gurira would later leave as a series regular in Season 10; she had been with the show since Season 3. Their characters would have their long-awaited reunion in The Ones Who Live, and the high viewership brought in by the spinoff shows just how much fans were hoping to see it happen.
Will There Be More of The Ones Who Live?
It's not yet clear if there will be a continuation of the spinoff, though the Blu-ray Steelbook and DVD releases have been referred to as "Season 1," hinting that AMC execs are at least open to the idea of making a second season. As of now, no renewal has been confirmed, but it's still possible that a continuation will come to be in the future. For now, the franchise will continue to expand with other spinoffs in the works. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has a second season coming soon, and after getting a renewal order early, production on Season 3 is already in the works. The show follows Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon and Melissa McBride as Carol.
Meanwhile, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan lead The Walking Dead: Dead City, another spinoff set in the world of The Walking Dead. The show has a second season on the way, but it remains to be seen if that show will also be coming back for a third season of its own.
