“They’re Both Going To Play A Ton”

Not much of a competition for the No. 3 receiver slot at One Buc Palace.

On paper, sure, second-year man Trey Palmer (39 catches) and rookie third-round pick Jalen McMillan are locked in a battle. But that’s not really reality, explained new Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen.

“Less off a [competition], more of their roles within that position; they’re both going to play a ton,” Coen told The Sick Podcast — Pirate Parlay. “So yeah, it’s a competition because who’s going to walk out there Day 1 and play the Z position, yes, but they’re both going to play. They’re both going to have roles. Now they do some things differently, but both can stretch the field … Both can run some different routes. I don’t know if I look at it as a true comp.”

Forget the competition, Joe’s impressed that Coen already believes rookie McMillan will play “a ton.” That means he truly opened eyes in the spring and talk of that wasn’t just rhetoric.
