Titans right tackle job up for grabs after failures of Nicholas Petit-Frere

The Tennessee Titans offensive line was a disaster in Sunday's loss to the Green Bay Packers , allowing eight sacks of quarterback Will Levis.

Stock up, down after the Titans' 30-14 loss to the Packers

Titans head coach Brian Callahan said in Monday's press conference that the left side of the offensive line has played well, but pointed out struggles on the right side of the line as a detriment to the team.

Right tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere was benched in the third quarter on Sunday after whiffing on a block and allowing a costly strip sack. Jaelyn Duncan replaced NPF, but did not perform much better.

Right tackle appears to be a question for the Titans moving forward. While NPF was benched, Callahan did not rule out the possibility of him returning to the starting role for Monday Night Football against the Dolphins. It will all depend how the week of practice shakes out and who earns the job.

"We'll see. We'll let those guys play it out," said Callahan when asked who would be the starter between Petit-Frere and Duncan. "I think that really at the core of the game yesterday, Nick (Petit-Frere) played well enough, but his three real bad plays were real bad plays. And that's sort of what the issue is, it's the consistency. I'm not going to make any commentary on [who will start] until we get through a week of practice and see where everybody's at. But, after that sack fumble, we needed to make a change in the moment in the game. I'm not going to say that it's a permanent one or anything like that. But yeah, we just needed something different at that point."

It really doesn't matter if Petit-Frere plays "well enough" on majority of the snaps. if his bad plays result in easy sacks and turnovers, he has no business being on the field.

The bad news for Titans fans is that there may not be a better answer on the active roster. I'd argue Daniel Brunskill - who has played 310 career snaps at right tackle - is worth trying out.
