Titans urged to sign heavily-penalized offensive tackle in free agency

The Tennessee Titans desperately need to address their offensive line during the offseason. The quarterback search is on, and while that is a top priority, it doesn’t matter who they bring in to throw the ball if they don’t upgrade their protection. One name that has been suggested is Cam Robinson, who played for both the Jacksonville Jaguars and Minnesota Vikings in 2024.

PFF Free Agent Rank: No. 17 (No. 2 T)

With the No. 1 overall pick secured, the Titans seem destined to select their quarterback of the future — likely either Ward or Sanders. Upgrading the offensive line should thus be the second item on the agenda of a shifting front office after general manager Ran Carthon’s surprising firing.

Robinson put together another solid year at left tackle despite playing for both the Jaguars and Vikings in one season. He has mustered a PFF pass-blocking grade of 70.4 or better in each of the past four years, although his 13 penalties this season were his most since his rookie campaign in 2017. Adding a player like Robinson would allow Tennessee to slide second-year tackle J.C. Latham back to his natural position at right tackle, which he almost exclusively played at Alabama.

If we’re talking about an upgrade, sure, Robinson has a much better grade than Nicholas Petit-Frere. But 13 penalties exceeds Petit-Frere’s 10 penalties this season, and the last thing the Titans need is another player causing them to lose yardage.

Moving J.C. Latham back to his natural position should definitely be a goal for the Titans, but Robinson is likely not the answer here.
