Tyreek Hill crudely jokes about Tua Tagovailoa’s return with an indirect dig at the Dolphins QB’s concussion situation

NFL locker rooms are tight-knit spaces. The players spend so much time around one another that they become brothers from different mothers. Joking around is nothing uncommon, especially when a star as outgoing as Tyreek Hill is on the roster. The wideout for the Dolphins shares a close bond with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa .

Tyreek Hill crudely jokes about Tua Tagovailoa’s return with an indirect dig at the Dolphins QB’s concussion situation

As Tua Tagovailoa sits on the sidelines recovering from his concussion sustained against the Buffalo Bills, Tyreek Hill decided to have some fun at his expense. He responded to a fan’s suggestion on X that Mike McDaniel should call a QB run as Tagovailoa’s first play when he gets back on the field. The wideout’s response was outright dark.

He responded with “Who gone call the next play,” referencing Tagoavailoa’s frequent troubles with concussions. That response did not sit well with fans who were uncomfortable about the wideout mocking the quarterback’s health. After all, concussions are nothing to be taken lightly.

Fans reported Tyreek Hill’s X account over his insensitive post

Right after the backlash began to flood in, Tyreek Hill posted another message that fans were quite offended by his first post.

They put my account under review because of my last tweet.

Tyreek Hill wrote

Truthfully, the wide receiver’s tweet was not a lie. When Tua Tagovailoa returns from his injury, the threat of him risking yet another hit to his head will constantly be looming over his head.

The plea from fans asking for Tagovailoa to strongly consider retiring from the NFL increased after he sustained his fourth concussion in recent history. However, the quarterback has been a fighter and refused to go out this way. He committed to making a speedy recovery and stepping back on the field this season to help the Miami Dolphins make a playoff push.

While fans considered Hill’s tweet as dark and offensive, those are just normal aspects of his personality. Besides, Hill and Tagovailoa are close and probably exchange banter of this form consistently. A good example of this would be Hill’s dig at the quarterback after Alabama lost to Vanderbilt. So, while this was surprising to fans, the quarterback probably took this post as a light-hearted jibe towards him.
