Update shared about possible charges in the death of Vikings CB Khyree Jackson

Less than three days after the tragic deaths of Minnesota Vikings cornerback Khyree Jackson, A.J. Lytton Jr., and Isaiah Hazel, charges could be coming in the near future for the person who caused the fatal car accident.

On Monday, the Star Tribune's Paul Walsh shared that the Prince George's County State's Attorney's Office in Maryland is "definitely moving quickly and expeditiously" to decide whether or not to press charges against the driver who caused the vehicle with Jackson, Lytton, and Hazel inside to crash.

A spokeswoman for the Prince George's County State's Attorney's Office, Denise Douglas, shared the following information with the Star Tribune about the ongoing investigation.

"An early evidentiary review has been scheduled for this week.

Our office continues to work diligently with [the State Patrol] on this ongoing investigation. We only have initial reports, which do not include the [blood alcohol content], which has to be developed from the medical records in this case. We have not yet received those yet."

According to police, the accident occurred in the early morning of this past Saturday when a Dodge Charger with the three former high school teammates inside slid off the road and into multiple tree stumps after it was struck by the driver of an Infiniti Q50 during an attempt to switch lanes at a high rate of speed. Police also believe "alcohol may have played a role in the crash."

Current and former Minnesota Vikings react to the tragic passing of Khyree Jackson

Since the passing of Jackson was confirmed on Saturday, a number of current and former Vikings players have shared their reactions online to the devastating news and offered their condolences to the family and friends of those who were killed.

Drafted by Minnesota in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft earlier this year, Jackson was expected to compete for playing time in the secondary during the team's upcoming training camp and preseason.

Instead, his life, along with the lives of Lytton and Hazel, has now been lost thanks to a poor decision being made that was out of their control.

Jackson was only a member of the Vikings for a short period of time, but based on the reactions that have been shared after his passing, his addition to the locker room was something that had already made a significant impact on his new teammates and coaches.
