The New Orleans Saints have a really long injury report, and they unfortunately have a short week with a Thursday Night Football game in Week 7.
The New Orleans Saints have dealt with a ton of injuries already this season, and that battle is still ongoing. Now, as the team rolls into Week 7, New Orleans has the last thing it needs right now: a short week.
After a Monday night game in Week 5 and a Sunday game in Week 6, the Saints will now play on Thursday Night Football, hosting the Denver Broncos. New Orleans’ current health, mixed with a Thursday game, is a recipe for disaster. That’s evident in the team’s lengthy injury report for Week 7.

17 total players are listed on New Orleans’ latest injury report. Of those 17, only four had full practices. Eight guys were limited and five guys didn’t practice at all. With New Orleans’ game this week on Thursday, it’s seeming like the team will once again be shorthanded.
Among the biggest concerns are Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed both missing practice. Olave is in concussion protocol, and it’s nearly impossible for players to return to play on a short week. Shaheed, on the other hand, is dealing with a knee injury that is considered concerning.
They are New Orleans’ top two targets. If they can’t play Thursday night, the Saints will put a very underwhelming wide receiver group on the field. That certainly doesn’t help the rookie Spencer Rattler, who’s in line to make his second career start.
If there is a positive from this incredibly long injury report, it’s that Taysom Hill has had two limited practices. He missed the last two games, and didn’t practice at all ahead of New Orleans’s Week 6 game. He’s working his way back, and would be a welcome piece for the Saints, as the offense functions much better with him on the field.
