Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson has finally been activated from injured reserve.
The star tight end's 21-day practice window expired on Friday, forcing the team to either activate him or place him on season-ending IR. Fortunately, he's good to make his season debut next weekend against the Indianapolis Colts after missing the past 10 months due to a torn ACL.
He'd been listed as questionable heading into the past couple of games but was ultimately held out.
In light of Christian Darrisaw's season-ending injury on Thursday night, the corresponding roster move to activate Hockenson was placing the star left tackle on injured reserve.
Hockenson's return should provide a huge boost to a Vikings offense that scored a season-low 20 points in the loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night and has been struggling of late to sustain and finish drives.
The Vikings also have guard Dalton Risner nearing a return from injured reserve, and head coach Kevin O'Connell confirmed he'll be in the mix for a starting spot — presumably right guard Ed Ingram's spot — when healthy. However, veteran David Quessenberry is expected to replace Darrisaw on the left side.
Following their second straight loss, the Vikings now have 10 days before playing the Indianapolis Colts next weekend on "Sunday Night Football."
