Vikings announce new member of Ring of Honor, Adrian Peterson next?

For the first time since 2022, the Minnesota Vikings will add a new member to the team's Ring of Honor during the upcoming 2024 NFL season. On Tuesday, it was revealed that former Vikings defensive back Bobby Bryant will be the next member of the franchise's most prestigious group.

After Minnesota selected him in the seventh round of the 1967 NFL Draft, Bryant spent all 13 years of his pro career as a member of the Vikings.

During his 175 appearances in a Minnesota uniform (including the playoffs), he accumulated a total of 57 interceptions, which is the most by any player in the history of the team and one more than Hall of Famer Paul Krause, who had 56 interceptions in 191 appearances with the Vikings.

Bryant's induction into the organization's Ring of Honor will take place inside U.S. Bank Stadium at halftime of the Vikings' Week 3 matchup against the Houston Texans during the upcoming season.

After Bobby Bryant, who deserves to be in the Minnesota Vikings Ring of Honor next?

Bryant will be the 28th former member of the Vikings to be inducted into the team's Ring of Honor (full list here), and he's the first since Jared Allen was added to the group in 2022.

A number of notable former Minnesota players, coaches, and executives like Randy Moss, Fran Tarkenton, John Randle, Cris Carter, Bud Grant, and Alan Page have been added to the franchise's Ring of Honor in the past. So, who should end up being the 29th member whenever that decision is eventually made?

The leader in the clubhouse is probably former Vikings running back Adrian Peterson. Despite not officially retiring from the NFL yet, Peterson has been on the field in an actual game since Week 13 of the 2021 season.

He said earlier this year that he would officially close the door on returning to the NFL if no team signs him during the upcoming season, and that seems likely since the chances of anyone being interested in adding a 39-year-old running back probably aren't very high.

If Minnesota doesn't go with Peterson as its next Ring of Honor inductee, then it's really anyone's guess as to who the selection could be.
