Vikings cut, re-sign veteran running back in series of roster moves

Minnesota made a few roster moves on Tuesday, and another one is likely in the coming days.

The Minnesota Vikings made a series of roster moves on Tuesday, both releasing and re-signing one player amid those moves.

The team cut veteran running back Myles Gaskin once again, something that has happened several times already this season, but quickly brought him back on the practice squad.

The move opens up a roster spot on the active roster, which could be occupied by guard Dalton Risner if he is activated from injured reserve in the coming days.

Gaskin, 27, was slated to be the team’s primary returner entering the season but has only had three returns for 60 yards. He has, however, been active for five games and provides good depth for the Vikings, which is why Minnesota brought him back on the practice squad.

With Aaron Jones, Ty Chandler and Cam Akers all healthy on the active roster, Gaskin’s role will likely decrease in the coming weeks.

Additionally, the Vikings released linebacker Dallas Gant and offensive tackle Marcellus Johnson from the practice squad and signed offensive tackle Julian Pearl to fill the other practice squad spot.

The Vikings are back in action this weekend against the Indianapolis Colts on “Sunday Night Football.” Kickoff is set for 7:20 p.m. at U.S. Bank Stadium.
