Over the course of the offseason, the Minnesota Vikings have made multiple moves to improve the roster. They got star power on both the offensive and defensive lines, but there was one player who stood out above them all in terms of intrigue.
Unfortunately, the Vikings ended up moving on from him on Tuesday, waiving offensive lineman Trevor Reid.
Vikings waive/injured OL Trevor Reid
When the Vikings made the move to bring in Reid, it looked to be an underrated value signing. Reid was one of the best rookies in the Canadian Football League in 2024 with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. I wrote this about him back in January when the Vikings made the move.
Reid comes to the Vikings from the CFL after going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Louisville. He spent some time with both the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons during training camp before heading to Canada. Per the Vikings' press release, Reid earned the Roughriders nomination for the Most Outstanding Rookie award after starting all 18 regular season games and the Western Conference Semifinals against British Columbia.
Moving on from him now sends a signal that the Vikings didn't like his physical. It could have come from multiple different things, and it's possible he could end up coming back when he's healthy.
It was a good bet for the Vikings to make when they signed him, and it costs them nothing to move on.
