Bruins defenseman Nikita Zadorov made some shocking comments about the Bruins plans for the future today.
The Boston Bruins were without a doubt one of the biggest disappointments in the NHL this year.
Fans of the team were certainly expecting them to at least be competitive if not favorites to make the playoffs, but instead they had a historically poor season, finishing dead last in the Eastern Conference.
Now the organization has many tough decisions to make, but ultimately it all comes down to whether or not they are going to try and get back into the playoffs next year.
They have two options. They can try a retool on the fly to get back in the playoffs, or they can embrace a rebuild.
Given the way the team has trended in recent years, plus the organization's lack of high-end prospects, a rebuild may very well be the smartest option.
However, it does not appear as though they will be going in that direction.
Bruins defenseman Nikita Zadorov certainly believes they will not be rebuilding next year as he confirmed that they are all in on winning.
'We have one of the best players in the world, one of the best goalies in the world, we have two really good D-men who were out pretty much the whole year, we have all the pieces for the future. We have great management, great leadership up top and they are willing to do anything to win and that was the clear message today. Are they going to waste Pasta's years? Its win or nothing here for sure.'
The Bruins have just five forwards, four defenseman, and both goaltenders signed under contract for next season.
As a result, there may very well be a lot of roster turnover heading into next season.
The team has a little under 30 million dollars in projected cap space to fill out their lineup for the 2025-26 season.
Hopefully that will be enough to get the team back into playoff contention, but it could be a bit of a stretch given how this year went.
