Where Saints' QB Spencer Rattler lands on the 2024 QB class confidence meter

Damian Parson of Bleacher Report evaluated six major quarterbacks from the class of 2024 and placed them on a 2025 confidence meter, which ranges from 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest.

Spencer Rattler would get a score of two, though this doesn't come as much of a surprise. He had six starts last year, and he ended up with six losses. However, he did have 1,317 passing yards (a franchise record), four touchdowns, and five interceptions, which is what I imagine boosted his grade just the slightest bit.

Rattler has been seen at the Saints facility throughout the offseason, and he has been shining during the offseason training activities.

Spencer Rattler impressing this offseason

On the first day open to the media, Rattler got first-team reps and went 8/8 during seven-on-seven drills. But reports say that he impressed on back-to-back plays, first hitting wide receiver Chris Olave in a tight window over the middle and then tight end Michael Jacobson on a skinny post.

After that first day, he said that his work in the offseason has helped him gel with Kellen Moore's new offense.

"Body twitchiness, body quickness, mental quickness—I think that all ties in to what we're doing now with Kellen and his offense." Rattler said to the media. "But no matter what offense you work on, there are areas you want to improve. But overall, I feel good right now, and I want to keep improving."

On the second day available to the media, he had another impressive showing, completing 10/12 of his passes. According to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.football, his best play of the day was a throw over a defender on a crossing route to wide receiver Rashid Shaheed, but he also impressed on an ad-lib that ended in a completion to WR Chris Olave.

Rattler would continue his streak of good performances on the third media day, 6/8 of his passes. He also had more impressive connections, again to Olave, but this time to Juwan Johnson and Kevin Austin Jr. as well.

However, the QB1 job isn't fully secured for him. In April, the Saints drafted some competition at that position in Tyler Shough, who has also managed to impress in his practices. Rattler will have to continue the streak of good performances if he wants to end up as the man on top.
