Who is Detroit Lions' most dangerous addition of 2024 NFL offseason?

The Detroit Lions have made several intriguing moves on the defensive side of the ball, and that's especially true in the secondary, where the team traded for Carlton Davis and drafted Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw Jr.

In a recent article naming the most dangerous new addition for each team, Bleacher Report's Ryan Fowler surprisingly went with Rakestraw over the other two.

Before we get to our reaction, here's what Fowler said about Rakestraw:

After taking Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold in the first round of the draft, the Detroit Lions double-dipped with Missouri cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in Round 2.

Rakestraw's physicality, instincts and willingness to mix it up at the line of scrimmage should fit seamlessly into head coach Dan Campbell's defense.

Whether Rakestraw initially competes for snaps at nickel or the outside, his ceiling is as lofty as Arnold's.

While Rakestraw certainly has the tools to be an impact player in the NFL, he may have a tough time grabbing a starting job. After all, Brian Branch will man the slot and Arnold figures to take the starting job opposite Davis. Even if Branch isn't ready for the start of the season, Rakestraw would still have to beat out Amik Robertson.

I would have went with Arnold here. The Alabama product will contribute right away and could develop into a true lockdown corner. As far as Year 1 is concerned, Arnold should at least provide a good No. 2 opposite Davis, which is huge for a team that struggled against the pass last season.
