Aaron Rodgers remains without a team for the 2025 NFL season-and his recent comments make clear the New York Jets are no longer an option.
During a revealing appearance on the Pat McAfee Show on Thursday, Rodgers spoke candidly about his contentious exit from New York, clearing the air on months of speculation about his football future.
Rodgers detailed a "tenuous" and brief meeting with Jets head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey, during which he was informed just seconds into their conversation that the Jets planned to move forward without him.
"I figured that when I flew across the country on my own dime, that there was gonna be a conversation," Rodgers explained. Instead, Glenn abruptly told Rodgers, "We're going in a different direction at quarterback," allegedly expressing concerns Rodgers might undermine his leadership.
"I [didn't] want any part of that," Rodgers said, describing the situation as "already a debacle."
The former MVP also refuted reports about contract demands, emphatically stating money wasn't a factor. Rodgers insisted he's offered to play for as little as $10 million in 2025.
Rodgers, 41, confirmed he has engaged with other teams-including the Pittsburgh Steelers, Minnesota Vikings, and New York Giants-but stressed he's not rushing a decision due to personal commitments. "To make a commitment to a team is a big thing," Rodgers said. "I'm open to anything and attached to nothing."
With Rodgers out of the picture, the Jets are now officially entering a new chapter under Glenn. For Rodgers, retirement remains on the table as he prioritizes personal matters and considers whether he'll suit up again.
