Will Levis' honest comments on Brian Callahan reveal eye-opening truth

Titans fans get some warm and fuzzy comments to go with the win.

The Tennessee Titans might have turned a corner, finally, after a surprising win over the Houston Texans in Week 12. Although they still remain just 3-8 on the year, the big divisional win was something to build on, especially for quarterback Will Levis.

It has been an up-and-down season for the second-year quarterback, but mostly down. To say he's been mediocre, at best, would be generous. For the most part, it's been a rocky season for Levis.

Mental mistakes have consistently been a problem for the quarterback. Giveaways -- no, not just your standard turnovers -- have been the name of the game. Levis had given the ball away far too many times, specifically for his head coach's liking.

But, after a strong performance against Houston, Levis seemed to be in great spirits.

After the win over Houston on Sunday, Levis talked to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer and had some pretty heartwarming comments to share about his head coach, Brian Callahan.

“As a quarterback, you have to know that everyone’s got trust in you, and that gives you the ability to go out and play free and with confidence,” Levis told Breer.

"That trust never wavered. Callie’s been by my side since preseason. We’ve developed alongside each other. I’m proud of him with how he’s handled the last few weeks with me, and how we’ve gone out and executed.”

For fans who might remember, earlier on in the season, Callahan's frustration over his quarterback was on full display -- and often.

Callahan publicly called out his quarterback multiple times over his silly mistakes, calling some of them "stupid," and saying his quarterback "knows better."

It was almost reminiscent of a father and son type of relationship at times, rather than a coach and quarterback. Callahan was fuming at some points during the season, and justifiably so. Some folks even might have thought the head coach wanted to go in a different direction under center at one point.

When Levis was hurt for a little while and Mason Rudolph took over, temporarily, it was easy to try and build the narrative that maybe the Titans shouldn't stick it out with Levis.

But after his performance this last week, and a huge divisional win, Levis seemed to dispel any of those whispers from earlier in the year. By his account, the two of them have a great relationship and, despite the harsh criticism from Callahan, Levis believes in his coach and vice versa.

It looks like the Titans might not be all that ready to give up on Levis just yet and ride it out into Year 3.
