In a new anonymous poll of over 100 MLB players, the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves were among the teams rival players admitted they wouldn’t mind playing for.
This week, The Athletic released the results of a survey of 100 MLB players anonymously filled out during spring training. One of the questions posed was, “Which organizations have good reputations among players?”
Well, the Chicago Cubs finished fourth with 22 votes, and the Atlanta Braves came in third with 25 votes. The top vote-getters were unsurprisingly the Los Angeles Dodgers (82) and the New York Yankees (40). Players were allowed to give multiple responses to the question.
While they aren’t among the wealthiest teams in the game, it is still a great sign about how the Cubs and Braves currently run their organizations that they are viewed so favorably among the league’s players. The pair of clubs finished above the New York Mets (17 votes), Boston Red Sox (15 votes), Texas Rangers (14 votes), and the Houston Astros (11 votes). Teams with recent championship wins or in other major cities.

The treatment of player families and how the franchise embraces their deep history was part of the positive opinions players had on the Cubbies.
“Players I know in Chicago, they talk about how well they treat families,” one respondent said about the Cubs. “They are just about keeping traditions alive. They love their history and their legacies and try to continue that,” added another.
As for Atlanta, one respondent offered up some major praise by claiming the organization is just as well run as the Yankees.
“The Braves do everything just as good as the Yankees,” they said. “The way they take care of the players, players’ families, the way they treat you. Like you’re the best in the league.”
