Cleveland Browns GM Reveals Major Nick Chubb Update

The Cleveland Browns had an impressive all-around draft. In the first round, they landed Michigan Wolverines standout defensive lineman Mason Graham and backed that up with both linebacker Carson Schwesinger and running back Quinshon Judkins in the second round.

Later in the draft, the Browns also traded up in the fifth round to snag Shedeur Sanders. Dillon Gabriel was selected in the third round, among other young players coming to Cleveland as well.

Judkins is a player who has received a lot of hype since being drafted by the Browns. There are many who expect him to turn into a star in Cleveland.

Nick Chubb has been a free agent since the end of the 2024 season. There has been an expectation that he could return for another year with the Browns.

Following the NFL draft, with both Judkins and running back Dylan Sampson being drafted, it seems much less likely that Chubb will be re-signed.

Andrew Berry directly addressed Chubb's future. He left the door open for Cleveland to work something out with him, but also admitted that the situation has changed.

“Not necessarily,” Berry said about the recent running back additions indicating Chubb's future. “But the complexion of our running backs room has changed.”

If this is indeed the end of Chubb with the Browns, he will go down as one of the best running backs in franchise history.

He has played in 85 career games for Cleveland, carrying the football 1,340 times for 6,843 yards and 51 touchdowns. He averaged 5.1 yards per carry, while also catching 128 passes for 1,042 yards and five scores.
