When the Cleveland Browns took Nick Chubb with the 35th pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, many fans knew he was going to be good, but they didn’t know he would become the best running back in the NFL.

The Georgia star has rushed for over 1,000 yards in four of his six seasons in the NFL. He finished with 996 yards in his rookie season, where he wasn’t even the main running back for the first few games of the season, and last year, where he rushed for 170 yards in only a game in half due to him getting his knee blown out in a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football.

Chubb is coming off a lost season, and there is a chance he won’t be ready for the start of this year, but this could very well be the last one he has in Cleveland.

Chubb is entering the final year of his contract and will turn 29 this December. He is also coming off a nasty knee injury, and he also had a horrible one while he was playing college football at Georgia.

Most running backs don’t reach a third long-term contract in the NFL, and many of them are on their last leg when they are hitting 30 years old, and this is where Chubb is heading.

The running back position also has a lot of plug-and-play guys where you keep rotating backs in and out, and we saw the Browns still make the playoffs last season with Kareem Hunt, who was coming toward the end of his career, and Jerome Ford, who was in his second season and struggled at many times.

The Cleveland Browns will be able to save money next season by not bringing Chubb back, and they could use it on other, more critical positions on their team.

Cleveland also gets a boatload of their draft picks back next season, and right now, they even have a first-round pick, so they could take a cheap rookie running back very high and put him in right away.

It seems like the Nick Chubb era will end next season, and it’s going to be hard for many fans to swallow because of how great a player and guy Chubb is.
