A24 has great news for fans of Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal. The two actors are uniting in an upcoming film, and the release date has officially been announced.

Per Deadline, The Materialists has been dated for a nationwide theatrical release on June 13, 2025. Along with featuring MCU stars Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal, the movie stars Dakota Johnson (Madame Web), Marin Ireland (The Dark and the Wicked), Dasha Nekrasova (Succession), and Louisa Jacobson (The Gilded Age). It is written, directed, and produced by Celine Song, while David Hinojosa produces for 2AM alongside Killer Films.
While full details of the plot are not known, The Materialists will involve a love triangle between a professional matchmaker, a wealthy man, and a broke actor-waiter. It's not clear which actors will be in which roles. The movie has been described as a "risky change of direction" for Song compared to her previous film, Past Lives. That movie was a big success after premiering at Sundance in 2023, earning two Academy Award nominations along with other big nods at the Golden Globes and the BAFTAs.
Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal Are MCU Stars
Both Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal are major MCU stars, though there's one major difference. Evans was a big fixture of the MCU in previous years, but his run as the Steve Rogers version of Captain America seemingly ended in 2019 with the storyline events of Avengers: Endgame. There are rumors that Evans could return to the MCU in the upcoming Avengers sequels, with speculation he could be playing a different role (like Robert Downey Jr. is with Doctor Doom), but none of this has been confirmed. Evans himself said he was "happily retired" from the MCU in response to the rumors.
Meanwhile, Pascal's performance in the MCU has yet to be seen, but he's soon becoming a big part of it himself. He's playing Reed Richards in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which is coming to theaters this summer. The characters from the MCU's Fantastic Four reboot are also expected to be involved with the new Avengers sequels. The two actors' Materialists co-star, Dakota Johnson, didn't have the best time with her own foray into the Marvel world. She was a part of Sony's Spider-Man Universe as the titular star of Madame Web, which infamously bombed upon release in 2024. With other SSU films also coming up short, it seems to be very unlikely that Johnson will reprise her role, though there's always the chance she could possibly play a different character in the MCU.
The Materialists will be released in movie theaters on June 13, 2025.
