Report: Steelers to host Christmas Day game vs. the Chiefs, will air exclusively on Netflix

Jordan Schultz of theScore reports that Pittsburgh will host a Christmas Day game against the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in 2024. This Week 17 matchup will air exclusively on Netflix, however, so if you’re not already a subscriber to the platform, be certain to have a plan in place to watch the action between now and December.

Report: Steelers to host Christmas Day game vs. the Chiefs, will air exclusively on Netflix - Behind the Steel Curtain

This showdown will be the third time the Steelers have played on Christmas in the last decade (2016 vs. the Ravens and 2017 vs. the Texans). Pittsburgh has won each bout when playing on the holiday, so let’s hope the holiday season brings some good tidings again this year for the faithful fanbase.

The game will not be without its challenges, though.

Christmas Day falls on a Wednesday in 2024, presumably leaving at least one franchise (likely both) on short rest entering the contest. It’s also an unusual day of the week for an NFL game to be played. There have only been two times in the Super Bowl era when a game took place on a Wednesday: first in 2012 between the Cowboys and Giants and again in 2020 between the Steelers and the Ravens due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Furthermore, any game at Acrisure Stadium in December is prone to less-than-ideal weather, ranging from extremely frigid to potential snowfall. These obstacles could affect both gameplay and the attendees, so if anyone is planning to go, be sure to bundle up!
