Tennessee Titans Revamp Offensive Line Before NFL Draft

The Tennessee Titans made several moves to continue their revamp of the offensive line before the 2025 NFL Draft last week. What were the moves to solidify the trenches for a possible quarterback of the future on the horizon? Could they add more to the room at the draft?

Tennessee Titans Revamp Offensive Line Before NFL Draft

On Thursday, Ian Rapaport of the NFL Network reported that the Titans released former starter Nicholas Petit-Frere from his contract obligations.

NPF was a third-round selection of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Titans, who immediately started him as a rookie but never solidified his position. He was the primary starter at right tackle for the majority of his three seasons for Tennessee. Petit-Frere missed most of the 2023 season due to injury. In his two seasons as the starter, PFF rated him as one of the worst tackles in the league. During the 2023 season, he was assigned an overall score of 52.3, ranking 74th out of 81 eligible tackles. The 2024 season was much worse for the young man, earning an overall score of 46.5.

In his stead, Jim Wyatt of the team’s website confirmed three signings along the trenches to further solidify the team’s position.

Interestingly, all three players have faced the Titans as opponents over the intervening years of their careers. Udoh has faced the Titans once, in 2020, resulting in a Tennessee victory. Mustipher has blocked Titans defenders the most times, going thrice with two different teams. Jaimes has played Tennessee three times in his career, with the Chargers winning two of the three matchups.

Mustipher played collegiately for Notre Dame, Udoh at Elon, and Jaimes at Nebraska. The Notre Dame product spoke out during his time with the Bears about his abilities. He was much more reserved while he was with the Ravens. The versatile Udoh has started games at both tackle and guard spots in his career. The Vikings initially selected him in the 2019 NFL Draft. Los Angeles drafted Jaimes in the 2021 draft, and he has played in 46 games with three starts.

Who’s on first? Who’s on third?

As it stands, Udoh will likely compete to be newly enriched Dan Moore’s backup and the swing guard/tackle on the roster in the summer. Mustipher will probably secure the reserve job behind starter Peter Skoronski and will compete for backup center reps with longtime Titans reserve Corey Levin. The depth behind aging warhorse Kevin Zeitler is thin to say the least, so Jamies will compete with Blake Hance there.

What’s next for the Titans’ offensive line?

These moves don’t preclude the Titans from further adding to their offensive line room, but it makes sense for them to wait to find help later in the draft. It doesn’t force them into certain corners during the draft, allowing them to rebuild a faltering receiver room, despite the fervent belief in Treylon Burks that potential Titans quarterback Cam Ward has.

The starters are set in stone with Moore and 2024 first-round selection JC Latham manning the bookends, alongside Skoronski, an ideally healthy Lloyd Cushenberry, and Zeitler inside. Could the Titans revamp their offensive line further in the draft? We shall see.
