The Philadelphia Eagles are slated to play in their second Super Bowl in the past three years. The Eagles were one of the best teams all season long. On the way to the Super Bowl, Philadelphia had to go through a divisional rival.
In the NFC Championship Game, the Eagles torched the Washington Commanders 55-23. This was the second time that Philadelphia beat the Commanders this season.
With Washington looking ahead to the 2025 season, they parted ways with nine players right away after the loss to the Eagles.
Commanders Release 9 Players After Loss to Eagles in NFC Title Game
According to the Commanders' official X page, they signed RB Kazmeir Allen, DT Viliami Fehoko Jr., G Julian Good-Jones, QB Sam Hartman, TE Tyree Jackson, DE Andre Jones Jr., WR Chris Moore, S Ben Nikkel, and TE Cole Turner to reserve/future contracts. That gives them the chance to fight for a roster spot during minicamp and training camp.
Despite keeping these guys around, nine other players didn't get that positive news. Washington released WR Brycen Tremayne, CB Kevon Seymour, OT Bobby Hart, DT Carl Davis, RB Michael Wiley, DT Haggai Ndubuisi, WR Mitchell Tinsley, CB Bobby Price, and DE Efe Obada.
These players have hit the open market and will get a chance to land elsewhere this offseason.
They were on the practice squad but didn't show the coaching staff enough to keep them around.
The Commanders certainly overachieved. With Dan Quinn in his first season at the helm and Jayden Daniels only a rookie, no one expected them to make it to the Divisional Round.
That's where they met their match against the Eagles and were dominated. Philadelphia's team is loaded on both sides of the ball and displayed that against the Commanders.
When you lose the way Washington did, moves along the roster need to be made. And that's what happened.
