The Philadelphia Eagles are back on the NFL’s biggest stage, set for a rematch with the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.

Jalen Hurts Addresses Eagles' Past Super Bowl Loss to Chiefs

Two years after their heartbreaking 38-35 defeat in Super Bowl LVII, Jalen Hurts and the Eagles have a shot at redemption against Patrick Mahomes and the reigning champions.

As the highly anticipated rematch looms, however, Hurts reflected on the painful loss and the lessons that will shape Philadelphia’s approach this time.

Super Bowl LVII was a thriller, with the Eagles holding a 10-point halftime lead before Mahomes and the Chiefs engineered a second-half comeback. A late holding penalty and Kansas City’s methodical offense sealed the Eagles' fate, leaving Hurts and his team stunned.

Despite his record-setting performance—three rushing touchdowns and 374 total yards—Hurts walked off the field knowing how close they had come.

Now, as Philadelphia prepares for another shot at the Lombardi Trophy, Hurts isn’t dwelling on the past but isn’t ignoring it either. When asked what he’s carrying with him from that loss, the Eagles quarterback offered a measured response.

"Hard to say right now. Hard to say right now," Hurts said after the Eagles' win over the Washington Commanders. "I just think you have to give a ton of gratitude. These are my personal testimonies... but clearly, as a team, the mission is to go take advantage of the opportunities we present ourselves with."

Hurts emphasized the importance of growth, noting that this Eagles team is different. With young talent stepping up, a dynamic new weapon in Saquon Barkley and a renewed sense of purpose, Philadelphia enters the rematch with experience, hunger and unfinished business.

The Eagles will now try to flip the script.
