It took the New England Patriots a few years to finally find their guy in Drake Maye.
Unlike many other organizations around the NFL, the Patriots weren't in that bad of a position.
The Patriots recently had Tom Brady, and while some of the quarterbacks between him and Maye didn't go as planned, nearly every other team in the NFL would love to be in the position the Patriots currently are in and were back in the day.
One of the former quarterbacks who played on the team during the Brady era was Jimmy Garoppolo.
Garoppolo was viewed as someone who could be a potential franchise quarterback just a few years ago, but he has dealt with a few injuries throughout his career and is now a backup.
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like he'll return to a starter role anytime soon.
However, could he be a backup for the Patriots?
Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports thinks so, naming New England a fit for the 31-year-old.
If Garoppolo would be willing to come back to the Patriots and be a backup at the stage of his career, there are many worse options out there.
Of course, this depends on whether the Patriots move on from Joe Milton, which could make sense if they get a decent draft haul in return.
